Stockton California (CBS13) – Sgt. John Perry lost his life due to a suicide bomber in Afghanistan.

Sgt. Perry stumbled on the suicide bomber and stopped him before he reached his target. Per Sgt. Perry’s father Stewart Perry; his son’s actions could have possibly saved hundreds of lives. He went on to say, “his son’s death also underscores why the American flag is sacred for service members, not just a symbol for protest.” “It’s not for protest—it’s for the death of the people that are saving us. That’s what it’s for,” he said.

The next part of Sgt. Perry’s story is absolutely a spit in the face of honor and respect.

Due to the tragic incident, the Perry family are now considered “A Gold Star Family.”

*Gold Star Family – (American Gold Star families are immediate relatives of members of the U.S. Armed Forces who have been killed in combat or in support of certain military activities.)

Instead of receiving respect on the flight to bring their son’s body home they were booed because the flight was being delayed. “To hear the reaction of the flight being delayed because of a Gold Star Family, and the first-class cabin booing that was really upsetting, and it made us cry some more,” Stewart said.

A soldier’s death defending his country has left a father defending his son. “My kid was over there to help put a stop to this garbage, and he died,” he said.

I don’t know about you but this sickens me… How could this happen? A man gives his life for his country and this is the thanks he receives?

Whoever you are, you should be ashamed. How dare you disrespect a Gold Star Family like that.

What Do You Think? Does This Upset You?

Please SHARE Sgt. Perry’s story. Thank You.
