Tribe Members Receive More Than Clean Water At Standing Rock – Veterans Ask For Forgiveness
source: Tina Malia Facebook
Reconciliation is a beautiful thing. I realize the pain caused by war can’t always be remedied with “I’m sorry” but it’s a start. A token of goodwill Is worth far more than that.
We only have control of our own actions, we are not responsible for the faults of others, but that didn’t matter…
These courageous veterans felt obligated to ask for forgiveness for sorrow caused by others… that’s a very powerful gesture.
In the midst of these warriors, from both sides, a need to right a wrong surfaced after standing together for a greater cause.
Peace is the goal, and I for one am glad for courageous people who, not because they had to, but because they chose to, took a stand by kneeling in the realm of forgiveness. That’s powerful stuff right there.
From Dailykos :
Jon Eagle Sr., Tribal Historic Preservation Officer at Standing Rock Sioux Tribe has reported something wholly unexpected happened at the Standing Rock Reservation today. The veterans gathered to join the Dakota Pipeline protest stunned the gathered tribal members when they took a knee and asked for forgiveness.
